This multipurpose fragrance-Free Liquid Castile Soap has many different uses in the home:
Hand & body soap
General Cleaning: Mix with baking soda to make a non-scratch scouring paste. Add to hot water for general cleaning most washable surfaces.
Dish Soap (Low sudsing) Bubbles are not an indication of cleaning ability. Commercial dish soap contains sudsing agents that make bubbles to impress you; they don't make the product more effective and they are not good for your skin or the environment, so we don't use them in the Sophie Soap formula.
Works most efficiently if you put the soap directly on the dish cloth or sponge and then wash the surfaces needed rather than diluting the soap in a large amount of water.
NOTE: if you have hard water, fill sink with hot water, add 2 TBSP of baking soda and swish to dissolve. Let sit for 5 minutes to soften the water, wash and rinse dishes as usual.
Laundry Soap: An all-natural, healthy alternative for those who can't or don't wish to use detergents.
NOTE: Detergents are widely recognized as superior to natural soaps in cleaning ability, however detergents are synthetic compounds and are usually combined in laundry products with other chemicals such as chlorine bleach, perfumes, and phosphates that are hard on the environment and irritating to sensitive or allergy prone skin.
Important: If you have been using a detergent based laundry product, you will need to prepare your clothes for the switch to natural soap. Neglecting this step may result in yellowing; this occurs as a result of the detergent residue in your clothing reacting with the natural soap.
To prepare laundry for the switch from detergents to soap, wash them first with 1/2 C of white distilled vinegar per load. This removes all detergent residue and prevents yellowing.
Instructions for use as a laundry soap: Sort items according to their label. Begin filling washer with water, add 2 oz (1/4 C) Liquid Castile Soap, then add your laundry items. Wash as usual.
If you have hard water, the soap can react with the solids in the water and leave a dull, gray film on your clothes over time. You can prevent this by softening the water first with ½ of baking soda to the machine as it fills - wait 10 minutes before adding the soap and then the laundry.
For the best results on stains or heavily soiled loads and for whitening whites and brightening colors use the Liquid Castille Soap in combination with Oxy-Boost all-natural oxygen bleach, available from DakotaFree.com
